ABOUT KIRSTY JEAN
Kirsty Jean Brabin is a woven textile designer and maker. Based in Aberdeen, Kirsty Jean graduated from Cheslea College of Art in 2014 achieving a Distinction and gained a BA (Hons) Texile Design in 2012. Kirsty Jean has a passion for the Shetland Isles, this is a main source of inspiration when designing and weaving her luxury interior collections. Enthused by the hidden coast, she creates unique, gradient warps doning shapes from historical Nordic artifacts. Being a woven textile designer, relation to words such as ‘holistic’ and ‘traditional’ are often apparent. Careful consideration is taken in producing each piece and all wool she uses is sourced from Shetland's only surviving mill.
Kirsty Jean is an advanced and dedicated weaver specialing in double cloth and supplimation warp weaving, for example piqué. Kirsty Jean's interior collections have featured at trade shows such as Premiere Vision Paris, Indigo Brussels and Pulse London. She has worked freelance for several high end interior companies and was Global Yell's Weaver in Residence in 2013. Her work has appeared in trend forcasting publications such as WGSN and is available upon request for styling work, as well as woven freelance work, commissions or collaborations.
